Waterfall elopement in Iceland.

Monica and Brandon embarked on a pragmatic and straightforward elopement journey in Iceland, accompanied by their close family members. Navigating the unpredictable Icelandic weather, the couple, along with their photographer, adapted their plans due to heavy rain. Despite changes and skipped locations, the highlight of their day was the ceremony.

For Monica and Brandon's elopement in Iceland, the weather was cold, windy, and raining a lot. They're lucky that they didn't have to postpone their elopement to the next day. Monica and Brandon travelled from the US to Iceland with their close family members. You can see the determination of these two and their families to push through everything, even though they were eloping in a massive wind. Icelandic weather is notoriously unpredictable, and Monica and Brandon faced the challenge of heavy rain. To ensure a smoother experience, the initial plan had to be adjusted, dropping off locations that were affected by rainfall. Flexibility became key as the couple, along with their photographer, made on-the-fly decisions to skip rain-affected locations and drive to alternative spots. The adaptability showcased their pragmatic approach to the unpredictable weather. We also had to stop and fix the car on our way to the ceremony but hey that’s what adventure elopements are all about!

For Monica and Brandon, the best part of their day was their ceremony and being able to experience beautiful landscapes on their day. Monica and Brandon’s ceremony took place at Kvernufoss waterfall surrounded by their family and loved ones. The simplicity and sincerity of the ceremony resonated with the couple. The exchange of vows and promises encapsulated the essence of their union, making it a truly meaningful and unforgettable moment.

The waterfall is 30 meters high and also a waterfall where you can walk behind, like Seljalandsfoss, Kvernufoss is a dramatic waterfall surrounded by a mossy gorge. Depending on how strong the wind is and pushing the water, you can easily get quite wet if you go too close on days like that! But when the wind isn’t too strong, you get to visit the waterfall very close by.

As a photographer, I always have a backup day with my eloping couples and the decision to skip some locations on the elopement day didn't mean they were forgotten. The couple and their photographer scheduled a follow-up session on the next day to capture the missed spots. Visiting the skipped locations on the next day allowed Monica and Brandon to complete their visual narrative. The additional pictures added depth to their elopement story, showcasing the diverse landscapes Iceland has to offer.

Monica and Brandon's elopement in Iceland was marked by adaptability, practicality, and a genuine focus on the meaningful aspects of their union. Navigating the challenges posed by weather changes, the couple showcased resilience, turning potential setbacks into opportunities to create an authentic and memorable elopement story.
