Black church elopement in Iceland | Aimee & Nic
Aimee and Nic had been carrying a secret from their families for over a year; that they would be eloping into Iceland. Their families had no idea that this was going to happen since Aimee and Nic had said they would just be going for a holiday. Aimee and Nic decided that they wanted to get married in a unique and intimate location, and Iceland's rugged and untamed beauty was the perfect fit. They also wanted to avoid the stress and expense of planning a traditional wedding. By eloping, they could focus on each other and their commitment to spend the rest of their lives together, without worrying about pleasing anyone or conforming to societal expectations.
The couple started their day with a slow morning at Hotel Budir, a charming hotel located on the westernmost tip of the Snaefellsnes Peninsula. The hotel's remote location and stunning views of the ocean and the Snæfellsjökull glacier make it a perfect spot for a romantic getaway. The couple enjoyed a delicious breakfast while taking in the breathtaking views.
After breakfast, the couple got ready for their big day. The bride wore a stunning wedding dress and carried beautiful wildflowers in her hair, while the groom looked dapper in his suit.
And then Aimee & Nic adventured around the Snaefellsnes peninsula with a campervan. The campervan allowed them to explore Iceland's hidden gems and take in the stunning scenery at their own pace. There's so much magic when you explore Iceland's landscapes on your day and it can be hard to put in words what it feels like.
Aimee & Nic decided to get married at Búðakirkja, a black wooden church located in the small town of Búðir in Iceland. Not only is this church one of the most visited in the country, but it also provided the perfect backdrop for their special day. Búðakirkja is a small, black wooden church located on the Snaefellsnes Peninsula in western Iceland. The church was built in 1848 and is considered one of the country's most iconic landmarks. Despite its small size, Búðakirkja is a popular tourist attraction and is visited by thousands of people every year.
Aimee and Nic's wedding at Búðakirkja was a beautiful and memorable occasion. The couple's choice of venue was not only stunning but also held special significance to them.

Aimee & Nic’s testimonial for their Iceland elopement
“We both knew we were not the type of people who would enjoy being the centrepiece of attention in a big, glorious wedding with an endless itinerary and hundreds of guests. We also are an adventurous pair, who would much rather spend our days exploring new places and discovering new cultures. An elopement in Iceland just made perfect sense.
An elopement, as simple as it seems, however, still required some planning - specifically when it comes to coordinating the logistics of legally marrying abroad. Here is where Lisa came in. My wife found Lisa's profile through social media, Instagram I believe, and needless to say, her photos speak for themselves. You can spend a minute on her page, glancing over the amazing shots she has taken over her career, and you cannot avoid but to fall in love with Iceland. Lisa has a natural ability to reveal the beauty of such dynamic landscapes in a still shot.
Lisa became involved with every detail of our elopement. She helped us get all our paperwork in order, planned multiple potential photo locations, assisted my wife scheduling vendors for make-up and hair, and she even kept us updated on the weather conditions and potential weather hazards for our proposed wedding date. Even though we were more than 7000 kilometers apart, Lisa was always available via email, phone, and video chat. The entire process, albeit simple in concept, was effortless with her help. She is far more than an "elopement photographer".
To be honest, it was hard for me to envision what our elopement photos ought to look like, I just didn't know what to expect. Iceland looks great on photos so I figured some of that natural beauty would sneak into our elopement shots. And it did! But the astonishing aspect of Lisa's talent is that she captured our feelings and emotions. Looking at the photos now I can see the happiness I felt that day. And, after interacting with Lisa throughout our wedding day, it became very clear why she is great at her craft - she loves her job immensely.
We are endlessly grateful for all Lisa did to make our special day timeless and unforgettable.
Thank you, Lisa.”
